Ms. B
Founder & Math Educator, Mathora
Greetings, I am Ajanay Brown professionally known as Ms. B.
I’m an all-around math educator known for my ability to quickly identify where students are struggling and support them in a way that makes sense for them.
I bring patience and creativity into every lesson because I understand how students think, and I adapt to the learner — not the other way around. I believe math comes to life when students are taught in a way that aligns with how their brain works.
I’m interested in building clarity and confidence for each learner I encounter. I support students from third grade through college, especially during the years where state testing increases, advanced coursework is introduced, and earlier misunderstandings can start to surface.
My Story
Mathora was created from a simple realization: there is no such thing as an “average” student.

While teaching across multiple grade levels, I worked with students who all needed something different — yet instruction was often bound to rigid pacing guides and standardized expectations. I saw students fall behind not because they weren’t capable, but because they were expected to move forward without the time, reinforcement, or foundational clarity they needed.

Math standards are written to reflect averages, but students are individuals. When instruction doesn’t honor that, confidence erodes and math becomes something to fear.

Mathora exists to change that experience.

Here, learning is slowed down when needed, foundations are revisited without judgment, and concepts are rebuilt with intention. The goal is not just to pass a class, but to help students walk into math spaces with confidence, understanding, and a sense of control over their learning.

Teaching Philosphy
At Mathora, instruction always begins with prior knowledge — never assumptions.

Every lesson starts by slowing things down and helping students recognize what they already know, even if it doesn’t feel like much at first. I don’t jump straight into new material or expect students to “remember” something they were never confident in to begin with. Instead, we take time to unpack the language of math, talk through what the problem is actually asking, and figure out where to start. Students are encouraged to try, make mistakes, and ask questions without fear, because mistakes are often the clearest path to understanding.

The outcome isn’t just stronger math skills — it’s a shift in mindset.
Mission Statement
At Mathora, learning is made clear through patient, step-by-step math instruction that builds confidence and understanding for every learner.
Vision Statement
Mathora envisions a world where every learner—regardless of age or background—has access to clear math instruction and the opportunity to understand concepts they once believed were out of reach.
